American citizens who are out of the country for 24 hours are entitled to bring back goods worth $200.00 US duty free. Any purchases exceeding this amount may be subject to taxes and duty. After a stay of 48 hours or more US citizens and/or residents are entitled to bring back goods worth $800.00 US, including 1 Litre of alcohol (33.8 oz.), or one case of beer (24, 355 ml cans or bottles), and 200 cigarettes or 100 cigars duty free. Alcohol may only be brought back to the United States by travelers who are 21 years of age or older, and tobacco products may only be purchased by individuals who are 19 years of age or older.
